Built by Many Hands: A Pavilion’s Tale

As part of the Manzar exhibition, organised by the Art Mill Museum (Qatar Museums) in collaboration with the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan and Caravane Earth Foundation, Heenat Salma Farm served as a residence for the construction of six pavilions. These were designed by renowned Pakistani architect Yasmeen Lari and built by skilled artisans from both the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan and Heenat Salma.

The construction process was fully documented, and the exhibition was presented as a tribute to the people behind the design and construction, celebrating the values of sustainable, vernacular architecture and the craftsmanship involved in the process.

Idea was supported and exhibition organized by the Caravane Earth Foundation

«It was a cheerful process, full of support, beauty, and colour, despite the weight of the work.
You couldn’t see the strain on their faces; it was all like a fine-tuned organism, supported by the unseen hand. I saw strength in those graceful women and dedicated men.
I watched people build houses with their hands, which led me to believe that when you know your craft, it inevitably becomes an extension of you. It connects you to others and the environment, pushing you past your limits. It lets you communicate without saying a word, strengthening you, fulfilling the present with the unquestionable meaning and firm resilience.»
